Ready for Action
The Horde encompasses four diverse species. The
ferocious Orcs arrived in Azeroth against their
will, torn away from their distant home world,
Draenor. One of their chiefs saved the Darkspear
tribe of Trolls from annihilation, an act that led
to an enduring alliance. As a rule, the brawny,
bull-like Tauren belie their appearance, being
peaceful and dedicated to preserving the natural
order. However, they do become daunting foes when
angered or aroused. All three are aligned against a
common enemy, the Lich King. In this one regard,
they share an interest with the Undead, who
otherwise follow their own agenda.
In Blizzard's World of Warcraft, the Alliance also
consists of four races. The Dwarves of Azeroth
originated in the frozen region of Khaz Modan. They
have always been close to their Gnomish cousins, a
relationship that has become even tighter since the
latter were driven from their home city. Both have
strong ties with the Humans, while the Night Elves
prefer to stay apart despite many mutual interests
and enemies. Extending the coverage normally offered

Week 9: Ready for Action!
Total Playtime: 2 days, 0 hours, 41 minutes
It's been a while since I've kept my journal, as
I've been absorbed in things other than my
adventures for a while. I'm back and ready for
action, so it's time to put quill to parchment again
to chronicle my attempts at getting back into the
swing of things.
The first thing I did was glance over my old notes
for the various quests I'd agreed to take - the
people in question still wanted me to help them out,
despite the delay, so I returned to the Crossroads
with the thought of finishing some of the
Barrens-based tasks as a way to ease back into
things. I also made the choice to work alone for a
while, rather than risk endangering more of the
Horde as I made any silly mistakes due to my time
away from adventuring - although as a Warlock I am
never really alone, thanks to my servants such as
the Voidwalker Grak'mon, who I've come to rely on to
stand between me and the greatest dangers.
From the Crossroads, I ran my way to Ratchet to
visit the bank and remind myself of just what I had
in storage and change things around a bit. I ran
north to explore and investigate some strange goblin
device called a Samophlange as an easy start to my
day, and once I'd gone that far, I decided a change
of plans was in order. I had a few quest notes I'd
jotted down for a place called Stonetalon to the
northwest of the Barrens, but hadn't yet set foot in
that area. Now, I thought, was a good time to change
that - especially as my current location wasn't very
good for giving me more Soul Shards, and I was
starting to run low.
This, of course, is where my lack of preparation and
quickness to change my mind started getting me in
trouble. I talked to Seereth Stonebreak as I'd been
asked to do, and found a Witch Doctor I'd been asked
to find in order to deliver a letter. However, I
realized I'd forgotten the actual letter. Just as
bad, I realized that there were many people in both
Malaka'jin and Sun Rock Retreat looking for
assistance, but I was already a bit overextended and
didn't feel I could afford to take on many more
tasks. Thus I changed my mind yet again and returned
to the Barrens for a while to clear out a few more
of the tasks I'd agreed to.
This time I headed for the Southern Barrens which
was a better choice. I collected various items and
fought enemies I'd been asked to wipe out, and I was
able to collect more of the precious Soul Shards
needed for our better Warlock abilities. I found
that a flight master had set up shop in Camp Taurajo
while I was away from my adventures, and visited to
pay my respects. I also managed to find enough wool
to practice my Tailoring abilities a bit more, and
crafted myself some armor for my shoulders, which to
this point had been unprotected. As another step
forward in my craft, I found a pattern for something
the salesman called a Greater Adept's Robe in
Ratchet of all places, which I felt just about ready
to tackle.
Of course, not everything went smoothly. I found the
wretched dwarves in a place called Bael'dun to be
more dangerous than expected, and then almost fell
to some of the human scum in Northwatch Hold, before
one of our Horde Scouts called Jaydog happened by
and bailed me out. I survived though, and even
managed to whisk one of their prisoners, an elf of
all things called Gilthares, right out from under
their noses in retaliation.!
