World of Warcraft
Atlas Peek
Azeroth's Dwarves hail from the snowy Khaz Modan
region. They have staunch friends in their Gnomish
cousins; the races have become even closer since the
latter were driven from their techno-city,
Gnomeregan. Both are on excellent terms with the
Humans of Stormwind, the last bastion of that
species' civilization. Honorable and just, the Night
Elves are nonetheless hesitant to trust the 'lesser
races' within the faction known as the Alliance. The
Tauren are normally peaceful, nomadic creatures
devoted to the balance of nature. In the Horde, they
are aligned with the fierce Orcs, brought to Azeroth
unwillingly from their world, Draenor. The Trolls of
the Darkspear tribe joined this coalition after an
Orcish leader saved them from extermination.
Although there isn't goodwill in either direction,
these three are joined with the Undead in sharing a
common enemy, the Lich King.
Blizzard's World of Warcraft, which launched late
last year, affords us the opportunity to explore
Azeroth with characters from these eight playable
races. Each offers a selection of up to six classes
from an overall total of nine that includes Warrior,
Paladin, Hunter, Rogue, Mage, Warlock, Shaman,
Priest and Druid. The gameworld includes two
continents made up of almost 40 regions and a
handful of large cities plus numerous other
locations such as smaller communities and dungeons.
Upon starting to find your way around, you'll
discover the gameplay incorporates a considerable
quest component, a wide assortment of enemies to
overcome, lots of different weapons, armor and other
items, and much more to learn. If you're looking for
help in such areas, two highly informative options
are our popular World of Warcraft Vault and
BradyGames' recently released World of Warcraft
Atlas.

World of Warcraft Atlas
Now available from BradyGames
Attention, denizens of Azeroth! We have seen the
world from a new perspective, one we are proud to
present in our new World of Warcraft Atlas from
BradyGames. This beautiful hardbound book is in
stores now, and it is an essential companion to any
traveler through our lands.
The new Atlas doesn't just give one level of detail.
For starters, there's a great two-page map of
Azeroth. Alliance, Horde, and Neutral (and a couple
of Druid-only!) travel points are highlighted - it's
nice to have this information at a glance, so you
can plan ahead for travel if you're going to be
questing across a large area. And start gathering a
party - the Instances are listed and pinpointed for
Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms, ready to accept
your challenge.
The next section contains 46 region maps, from the
Alterac Mountains to Winterspring. Get a bird's-eye
view of the terrain to help you figure out how to
play and travel through each region, and look to the
grid for the locations of flight masters, trainers,
and vendors. Take a look at Feralas:

When in town, find your exact destination quickly
with help from the 56 detailed, hand-drawn town and
camp maps, from Aerie Peak to Zoram'gar Outpost.
Callouts show the precise location of each NPC and
mailbox, as well as some special items and
locations. See how four of the towns/camps are
presented together on one spread:

Was it Lord Azrethoc you needed to speak with, or
Lord Arkkoroc? With so many unique names for the
characters and locations, the feature that may give
you the most practical in-game help is the
comprehensive set of indices. Not only are the usual
NPCs and bosses pinpointed, but there are additional
listings of class/profession trainers, faction
flight points, vendors, rare spawns, and resources
that refer you back to the maps. No matter which
index you start with, you have a number of ways to
find just the person, place, or thing you're looking
for - right at your fingertips. Look at how much
information is packed into each entry in the Main
Index:
