3.1 What types of ships are available to players?
Ships play a large role in EVE. There are 6 basic classes:
frigates, cruisers, industrials, battleships, titans and
shuttles. Each class possesses its own unique characteristics,
though considerable variations exist within each class.
Explore the Ship Database to learn more about the types and
specifications of ships available in EVE.
3.2 How are ships customized?
Ship customization in EVE doesn’t involve painting the exterior,
applying colorful decals or altering the appearance of the
ship's exterior. When we speak of customization, we’re talking
about the exciting ability to personalize the equipment fitted
on your ship according to your needs and playstyle.
The basic player ship classes - frigates and cruisers - are the
most customizable ships. Their purpose can range from being
totally combat-related to operating as technical vessles for
cargo, research, mining or technical purposes with jammers,
probes, scanners, etc., or several permutations of these roles.
It all depends on the skills of the character piloting the ship
and how he chooses to equip it. All ships have weapon and
equipment fittings along with a power core, but individual
models have distinct strengths and weaknesses.
Industrial ships can also be customized, but serve mainly as
cargo freighters, mining or exploration vessels. Their limited
maneuverability and fighting capabilities prevent them from
being strong candidates for combat situations.
Players have the ability to name their ships, making it easier
to distinguish one ship from another in their fleets.
3.3 How many ships can I own?
A character may own as many ships as he likes, though he can
only pilot one ship at a time. Any additional ships must be
stored in hangars.!
